| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Cynthia Ann "Cindy G" (Schuler) Gavilsky, | 4 | | who passed away on July 11, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky was born and raised in Granite | 6 | | City; she earned her first master's degree in alternative and | 7 | | special education from Western Illinois University; she later | 8 | | earned two additional master's degrees in counseling and | 9 | | education administration; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky worked at Coordinated Youth & | 11 | | Human Services, where she dedicated 34 years and served as | 12 | | executive director; she was instrumental in establishing the | 13 | | Billie's Kids Christmas celebration for families in need; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky gave back to her community by | 15 | | serving on countless committees and boards, including the | 16 | | Rotary Club, where she was an active member and served as past | 17 | | president; she was also a board member of the Granite City Area | 18 | | Community Foundation, the Granite City Hall of Fame Committee, | 19 | | the Madison-Bond Workforce Innovation Board, and numerous | 20 | | others; she was a proud Catholic and loved praying the rosary | 21 | | daily; as a leader in her community, she always found ways to | 22 | | positively impact and improve the lives of those around her; |

| 1 | | her major source of pride was her family; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky was preceded in death by her | 3 | | mother, Billie Lanham Schuler; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky is survived by her husband, | 5 | | Lawrence J. Gavilsky; her children, Jamie Gavilsky, Emily (Joel | 6 | | Rahn) Gavilsky, and Tessa (Frank) Florio; her father, Paul | 7 | | Schuler; her brothers, Allan (Diane), Fred (Lisa), and Joe | 8 | | (Jamie) Schuler; her sisters, Paula (Dale) Hubbard, Cathy | 9 | | (Daniel) Dummerth, and Terry (Eric) Mitchell; and many nieces, | 10 | | nephews, and cousin; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Cynthia Ann "Cindy G" (Schuler) Gavilsky and extend our sincere | 14 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 15 | | her; and be it further
