| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Chicago | 4 | | Police Officer Clifton Lewis, who was killed in the line of | 5 | | duty on December 29, 2011; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lewis was appointed to the Chicago Police | 7 | | Department on April 28, 2003 after serving as a member of | 8 | | Training Academy Class 03-03B; his assignments included | 9 | | working in the 8th District, 11th District, and the 15th | 10 | | District; he received numerous awards, including 4 Department | 11 | | Commendations, a Unit Meritorious Award, 70 Honorable | 12 | | Mentions, 2 Crime Reduction Awards, and 2 Complimentary | 13 | | Letters; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Clifton Lewis was born to Clifton Lewis and Maxine | 15 | | on May 5, 1970; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Clifton Lewis attended Bloom Township High | 17 | | School, graduating in 1987; while attending high school, he was | 18 | | a star on the school football team; he attended and graduated | 19 | | from Jackson State University in 1991; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Clifton Lewis attended United Baptist Church | 21 | | under the guidance of Reverend Dr. Wilson Daniels; he was the |

| 1 | | proud father of Simone Lewis; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Clifton Lewis was engaged to Latrice Tucker on | 3 | | Christmas Day, December 25, 2010; he enjoyed basketball, | 4 | | football, and skating; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Officer Clifton Lewis is survived by his parents; | 6 | | his fiancee, Latrice Tucker; his child, Simone; and his | 7 | | sisters, Nicole Olloway, Matasha Lewis, and Lashana Lewis; | 8 | | therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 11 | | we mourn, along with his family, friends, and the grateful | 12 | | people of the City of Chicago, the passing of Officer Clifton | 13 | | Lewis; and be it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Chicago Police Officer Clifton Lewis | 16 | | as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
