| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Merl Lee Butler on | 4 |
| Saturday, April 1, 2006; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Merl Lee Snow was born on November 24, 1926, in | 6 |
| Chicago to George and Mattie May Snow; she met and married | 7 |
| James Butler on March 24, 1951; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Butler was an active member of the Churches | 9 |
| of God and Christ and had attended Faith Temple (C.O.G.I.C.) | 10 |
| for the past 20 years; she faithfully served on the Mothers | 11 |
| Board and expressed her appreciation and gratitude for God's | 12 |
| blessings, her life, and the fellowship and warmth she received | 13 |
| from both friends and strangers throughout her lifetime; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, She will be remembered for her love for her family | 15 |
| and friends, her great sense of humor, her many candid remarks, | 16 |
| and the warmth generated by her to her fellow man; she was the | 17 |
| kind of woman who enjoyed life to the fullest, which meant she | 18 |
| lived it serving her God; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Merl Lee Butler has been deeply | 20 |
| felt by many, especially her children, Howard Snow, Minister | 21 |
| Gwennetta Smiley, Dr. Felicia Y. Blasingame (Zachary), and Rose | 22 |
| Butler; her grandchildren, Toni, Ronald, Nena, Hassan, Chloe', | 23 |
| and Devin; her great-grandchildren, Nina, Kayla, Imani, and | 24 |
| Ronald III; her brother, Ernest Snow;
and her many cousins and | 25 |
| friends; therefore, be it
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 27 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 28 |
| Merl Lee Butler, and we extend our sincere condolences to her | 29 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 30 |
| further
