| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Sarah F. King on her | 4 | | installation as president of the Women's Bar Association of | 5 | | Illinois (WBAI); and | 6 | | WHEREAS, The WBAI was first established in 1914 by nine | 7 | | women lawyers practicing in the Chicago metropolitan area; one | 8 | | of the oldest and largest bar associations in the State of | 9 | | Illinois, it serves as an influential voice in promoting the | 10 | | interests and welfare of women in the law, offering mentorship | 11 | | and networking opportunities, career advice, and events that | 12 | | promote and empower women leaders; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Sarah King, a partner at Clifford Law Offices, | 14 | | P.C., concentrates her practice in representing those who have | 15 | | been catastrophically injured or killed as a result of medical | 16 | | negligence; in a career built over a decade with Clifford Law | 17 | | Offices, she has gained substantial trial experience working | 18 | | cases alongside distinguished attorneys, including the firm's | 19 | | founder, Robert A. Clifford, and senior partner, Keith A. | 20 | | Hebeisen; she takes great pride in her work and has amassed | 21 | | verdicts for her clients totaling nearly $300 million, and | 22 | | these results include the record birth injury verdict in the | 23 | | State of Illinois; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her leadership roles within the | 2 | | WBAI, Sarah King is the current chair of the Women's Bar | 3 | | Association Political Action Committee; she is also a past | 4 | | president and long-serving board member of Women Everywhere: | 5 | | Partners in Service Project, which is a collaborative effort | 6 | | of lawyers and judges coordinating volunteer activities to | 7 | | help women and children; she remains committed to promoting | 8 | | and advancing women lawyers; to that end, she co-founded the | 9 | | Women's Caucus of the Illinois Trial Lawyer Association | 10 | | (ITLA), and she is also a long-serving member of the ITLA Board | 11 | | of Managers and was elected treasurer for the 2023-2024 term; | 12 | | and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Sarah King earned her Bachelor of Arts from | 14 | | Loyola University Chicago in 2008; she earned her Juris Doctor | 15 | | from DePaul University College of Law in 2011, where she was | 16 | | inducted into the Order of the Coif; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, A staunch advocate for women's rights and a | 18 | | supporter of women in law, Sarah King understands the | 19 | | opportunity she has as a woman trial lawyer to create positive | 20 | | changes in the judicial system by fostering equality and | 21 | | inclusion for women both inside and outside the courtroom; the | 22 | | theme for the 2024-2025 bar year is Together, In Service, with | 23 | | a strong focus on serving members through programming and |

| 1 | | advocacy that advances equality in the legal profession, | 2 | | serving the women of Illinois by aiding in the enactment of | 3 | | legislation that promotes the welfare of women and by giving | 4 | | back to the community through meaningful outreach and | 5 | | volunteer efforts; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sarah King will be installed as president of the | 7 | | WBAI for 2024-2025 at its 110th Annual Installation Dinner and | 8 | | Awards Gala at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago on June 27, | 9 | | 2024; therefore, be it | 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 11 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 12 | | we congratulate Sarah F. King on her installation as president | 13 | | of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois for the 2024-2025 | 14 | | bar year, and we wish her all the best in her new position; and | 15 | | be it further | 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to Sarah King as an expression of our esteem and | 18 | | respect. |
