| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Christine A. Rock of Downers Grove, who | 4 |
| passed away on April 2, 2010; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Christine Rock was born in Detroit; at the age of | 6 |
| 5, she and her family moved to Santa Barbara, California; 4 | 7 |
| years later, she returned with her family to the Detroit area; | 8 |
| and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Christine Rock earned her bachelor's degree in | 10 |
| English from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, | 11 |
| Michigan; while in college, she worked part time for The | 12 |
| Limited, a women's clothing chain, where she was put in charge | 13 |
| of window displays for several area stores; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Christine Rock | 15 |
| worked for several years as a technical writer for Electronic | 16 |
| Data Systems in Detroit; in 1988, she moved with her husband to | 17 |
| Chicago and continued working in the Chicago offices of | 18 |
| Electronic Data Systems; about a year later, she left that job | 19 |
| to become a stay-at-home mom to her son, Max; in 1991, she and | 20 |
| her family moved to Downers Grove, where she began extensive | 21 |
| remodeling of their 1960s ranch-style home; and

| WHEREAS, Christine Rock was well known throughout her | 2 |
| community for her decorating skills, sharing her expertise with | 3 |
| local homebuilders, as well as neighbors and friends who sought | 4 |
| her advice; she was also a co-owner of Treasures in Downers | 5 |
| Grove; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Christine Rock is survived by her husband, Jim; | 7 |
| her son, Max; her parents, Edward and Connie Szluk; her | 8 |
| brothers, Nicholas Szluk, Gregory Costrini, Daniel Costrini, | 9 |
| and Edward Costrini; her sister, Linda Lozier; and her many | 10 |
| nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 12 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 13 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Christine A. Rock; and | 14 |
| be it further
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 |
| presented to the family of Christine Rock as an expression of | 17 |
| our sympathy.
