| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Jesse C. Bankston, Jr. of Waukegan, who | 4 |
| passed away on June 10, 2008; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on January 20, 1944 in Waukegan and | 6 |
| attended North Chicago public schools, where he excelled in | 7 |
| athletics and received varsity letters in track, football, and | 8 |
| basketball; after receiving an athletic scholarship he | 9 |
| attended Yankton College in South Dakota, receiving his B.A. | 10 |
| and All-American football honors as a fullback; he was inducted | 11 |
| into the Yankton College Sports Hall of Fame in 2006; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He taught and coached at North Chicago High School | 13 |
| after college; he later entered the insurance field, working | 14 |
| for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois, where he retired as a | 15 |
| corporate officer after 35 years of service; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse | 17 |
| Bankston, Sr., and Minnie (Branch) Bankston; and his siblings, | 18 |
| Frederick Carl Bankston and Shirley Alemu; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Jesse Bankston is survived by his wife, Zora | 20 |
| (Pace); his son, Keith and daughter-in-law, Katheryn | 21 |
| (Culbertson); his grandchildren, Reese and Jonathan Bankston; |

| his sisters, Lenore Lane, Carolyn Newby, and Sharon Bankston; | 2 |
| his brothers-in-law, Seleshi Alemu, and James and Henry Pace; | 3 |
| as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; | 4 |

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 6 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 7 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Jesse Bankston, Jr.; and | 8 |
| be it further
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 |
| presented to the family of Jesse Bankston, Jr. as a symbol of | 11 |
| our sincere sympathy.
