| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Alice Dixon on February 10, 2019 at | 4 | | the age of 69; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Alice (Nykiel) Dixon was born September 13, | 6 | | 1949 to Irene and Chester Nykiel; she was a former resident of | 7 | | Oak Park, later becoming a resident of Westchester; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, For 45 years, Mary Alice Dixon served thousands of | 9 | | patients, primarily children, as a registered nurse, working at | 10 | | Michael Reese, Hartgrove, Riveredge, Children's Memorial, and | 11 | | Lurie Children's hospitals; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was a skilled clinician; she was | 13 | | respected by her colleagues, and they spoke of working with her | 14 | | as an honor; one remarking that she brought a special gift to | 15 | | each person she encountered; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was an avid adventurer; she | 17 | | enjoyed traveling to various locales, such as Cancun, Las | 18 | | Vegas, Arizona, England, Spain, and Hong Kong, as well as | 19 | | campfires at the farm in Marlette; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was a lover of people and enjoyed |

| 1 | | bringing them together though travel and parties, including the | 2 | | St. Patrick's Day dance at St. Giles, her infamous Oscar party, | 3 | | and the pierogi and kolacky party; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was a devoted parishioner of St. | 5 | | Giles Catholic Church; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon is survived by her husband, | 7 | | Russell A. Dixon, D.D.S.; her daughter, Erica (Jennifer | 8 | | Dixon-Johnson); her grandchildren, Cooper and Russell; her | 9 | | siblings, Gail (Joseph) Maher and Glen Nykiel; and her nieces, | 10 | | cousins, and many friends; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Mary Alice Dixon and extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Mary Alice Dixon as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
