| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jennie (Evgenia) | 4 | | Muros Mallis on her 100th birthday, May 2, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jennie (Evgenia) Muros Mallis
was born on May 2, | 6 | | 1912
in Slimnitsa, Greece (Northwest Macedonia, Greece); and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, She arrived in America in 1927
and became an | 8 | | United States citizen on February 19, 1928; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, She married Constantine J. Mallis
on April 22, | 10 | | 1934 and they had 3 daughters, Helen Mallis, Sophia Mallis, and | 11 | | Marinna Mallis Kolaitis; her husband passed away in 1945; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, She is the proud grandmother of Jeanine Constance | 13 | | Kolaitis; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, She worked at the Collier Book Plant,
District 217 | 15 | | Argo Community High School Cafeteria,
District 104 Walsh School | 16 | | as a teacher's aide in the bilingual program, and worked with | 17 | | children from the previous Communist bloc countries, such as | 18 | | Albania, Russia, the former Yugoslavia, as well as Greece and | 19 | | Turkey; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, She is an American Legion life member in Big | 2 | | Rapids, Michigan and Summit-Argo, Illinois; she is a member of | 3 | | the
Summit-Argo and Bedford Park Woman's Club and the
Holy | 4 | | Cross Greek Orthodox Philopticos in Justice; she is a life | 5 | | member of the Brotherhood of Grammos, and is one of the | 6 | | founders and the oldest member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox | 7 | | Church in Justice; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, She loves books and education, especially | 9 | | centered around children; she also loves music and dancing; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 12 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 13 | | we congratulate Jennie Mallis on the centennial of her birth | 14 | | and wish her continued good health and happiness for years to | 15 | | come; and be it further
