| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maggie | 4 | | Kelly of Chicago, who passed away on November 20, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Maggie Kelly was born in Uniontown, Alabama to Joe | 6 | | Bennett and Shavannah Sander Bennett on February 12, 1922; she | 7 | | was the eighth of 12 children; she later moved to Chicago; she | 8 | | married SJ Kelly in 1943; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Maggie Kelly worked at Ann Sather Restaurant from | 10 | | 1959 until her retirement; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Maggie Kelly committed to her faith at an early | 12 | | age and was baptized at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in | 13 | | Uniontown, Alabama; she was a founding member of Mt. Hope | 14 | | Missionary Baptist Church in 1945; she was a member of Sunrise | 15 | | Baptist Church in Chicago; she served as a missionary and a | 16 | | Sunday school teacher; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Maggie Kelly's passion was feeding the elderly and | 18 | | homeless; she was known as a mentor; she enjoyed traveling to | 19 | | Europe and Jerusalem with the family of Alderman Tom Tunney; | 20 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Maggie Kelly was preceded in death by her husband, | 2 | | SJ Kelly; her parents; her siblings; and her pastors, Reverend | 3 | | W.M. Lambert, Reverend D.H. Moore, and Reverend J. Rawls; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Maggie Kelly is survived by her godson, Pastor | 5 | | J.E. Storey; her spiritual daughter, Lady Di Storey; her | 6 | | nieces, Robyn Bennett, Mohini Cox, Latisha Bennett-Williams, | 7 | | and Mary Bennett-Larocque; her nephew, James Bennett; her | 8 | | pastor emeritus, Reverend G. Hills; and her pastor, Reverend A. | 9 | | Martin; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 11 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 12 | | we mourn the passing of Maggie Kelly and extend our sincere | 13 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 14 | | her; and be it further
