| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of D. Neale Hanley of Pekin, who passed away | 4 | | on July 26, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was born in Streator on January 4, | 6 | | 1940 to Dr. Deloss Reed and Lodema Helen (Brown) Hanley; he | 7 | | graduated from Streator Township High School in 1958 and | 8 | | married Nancy Carolyn Willey on June 10, 1961 at First United | 9 | | Methodist Church in Mattoon; he graduated from Baker University | 10 | | in Baldwin City, Kansas in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts in | 11 | | Business Administration; he was a member of the Beta Tau | 12 | | Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity; in 1964, he graduated from | 13 | | the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago; he later | 14 | | married Patricia G. (Lambert) Weiland on September 26, 1993 at | 15 | | St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green | 16 | | Valley; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, Neale Hanley was the | 18 | | funeral director and owner of Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & | 19 | | Crematory in Pekin; he and his family opened a second funeral | 20 | | home location in Creve Coeur in 1973; they expanded the Pekin | 21 | | home in 2001, added a crematory facility in 2009, and | 22 | | established the Prairie Haven Cemetery on Veterans Drive in | 23 | | Pekin during the summer of 2013; while under his leadership, |

| 1 | | the funeral home was recognized and inducted into the National | 2 | | Funeral Directors Association - Hall of Excellence in 2012; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was a Pekin resident since 1965; he | 4 | | was an active and longtime member of the Pekin Chapter of | 5 | | AMBUCS, serving as President in from 1974 to 1975 and as | 6 | | Chairman of the annual charity auction in 1985; he was a | 7 | | 49-year member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free & Accepted | 8 | | Masons in Pekin; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and | 9 | | Irin Grotto in Pekin; he also was a longtime member of the | 10 | | Creve Coeur Lions Club, Pekin Elks Lodge 1271, Pekin Moose | 11 | | Family Center 916, and the Pekin Country Club; he was a | 12 | | faithful supporter of the United Way of Pekin and many | 13 | | community causes; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was a devoted member of Grace United | 15 | | Methodist Church in Pekin, where he had served the church as | 16 | | Chairman of the property committee and as a past President of | 17 | | the United Methodist Men; he also attended worship and Sunday | 18 | | school at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley with | 19 | | his wife; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Neale Hanley loved his family and was proud of and | 21 | | appreciated his work family; he enjoyed travel, spending time | 22 | | with friends, and keeping up with his grandchildren; he | 23 | | especially enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship with his |

| 1 | | bridge club and the "Nameless" luncheon group; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was preceded in death by his first | 3 | | wife, Nancy; his parents; and his daughter, Laura Estelle | 4 | | Hanley; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Neale Hanley is survived by his wife, Patricia; | 6 | | his twin sons, Charles R. Hanley and D. Neale "Buster" (Joely) | 7 | | Hanley, II; his daughter, Tamzon W. "Tammie" (David) Vocatura; | 8 | | his stepson, Eric Weiland; his 5 grandchildren, Tyler Reed | 9 | | Hanley, Preston R. Hanley, Megan N. Hanley, Caroline R. | 10 | | Vocatura, and Emily E. Vocatura; his brother, Dr. James C. | 11 | | Hanley; his niece, Maureen A. (Jason) Setley; his grandniece, | 12 | | Adair Setley; and his 3 sisters-in-law, Elma Chrestenson, | 13 | | Bonnie (Jim) Boyd, and Connie (Bruce) Binkley; therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | D. Neale Hanley, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 18 | | further
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the family of Neale Hanley as an expression of our | 21 | | deepest sympathy.
