1 AN ACT in relation to county government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing
5 Section 5-11001 as follows:
6 (55 ILCS 5/5-11001) (from Ch. 34, par. 5-11001)
7 Sec. 5-11001. Construction and maintenance of parking
8 facilities. Any county is hereby authorized to:
9 (a) Own, construct, equip, manage, control, erect,
10 improve, extend, maintain and operate motor vehicle parking
11 lots, garages, parking meters, and any other revenue
12 producing facilities necessary or incidental to the
13 regulation, control and parking of motor vehicles
14 (hereinafter referred to as parking facilities), and to
15 purchase real estate to be used for parking facilities, as
16 the county board finds necessary;
17 (b) Maintain, improve, extend and operate any such
18 parking facilities and to charge for the use thereof;
19 (c) Borrow money and issue and sell bonds in such amount
20 or amounts as the county board may determine for the purpose
21 of acquiring, completing, erecting, constructing, equipping,
22 improving, extending, maintaining or operating any or all of
23 its parking facilities, and to refund and refinance the same
24 from time to time as often as it shall be advantageous and to
25 the public interest to do so.
26 (d) Acquire by eminent domain sufficient real estate for
27 motor vehicle parking lots or garages.

29 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
30 becoming law.
