| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Arlene M. Carl of McHenry, who passed | 4 | | away on January 17, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was born on May 18, 1921 in | 6 | | Pocahontas, Iowa; her parents were John M. and Helen (nee | 7 | | Welsh) Flaherty; she married Bob Carl on December 26, 1942 in | 8 | | Joplin, Missouri; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Prior to World War II, Arlene Carl moved to | 10 | | Chicago, where she worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company | 11 | | as an operator and supervisor; after marrying, she and her | 12 | | husband purchased their first and second homes in Des Plaines | 13 | | before moving to McHenry, where she resided for the rest of her | 14 | | life; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was a mainstay at the Des Plaines | 16 | | Theater and at Spiegler's Department Store; after moving to | 17 | | McHenry, she and her husband volunteered at the Centegra | 18 | | Medical Center for nearly 20 years; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was a member of St. Mary Catholic | 20 | | Church in McHenry and a charter member of St. Stephen's | 21 | | Protomartyr Church in Des Plaines; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was preceded in death by her husband, | 2 | | Bob; her parents; her brother, Tommy Flaherty; and her sister, | 3 | | Jean Renshaw; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Arlene Carl is survived by her children, Tom | 5 | | (Dianne) Carl, John (Ronda) Carl, and Bill (Cindy) Carl; her | 6 | | grandchildren, Jeff (Tamra) Carl, Scott Carl, Carrie (John) | 7 | | Alkire, Mike Carl, Andy (Jamie) Carl, Jackie (Rob) Aurelius, | 8 | | Billy Oaks, Christina (Jeff) Piper, and Katie Carl; and her | 9 | | great-grandchildren, Jackson and Olivia Carl, Johnny, Haylie, | 10 | | Matthew, and Emylie Alkire, Avery Aurelius, Victoria and Sophie | 11 | | Oaks, and Gabe, Brooks, and Lauren Piper; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 14 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Arlene M. Carl; and be | 15 | | it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Arlene Carl as an expression of our | 18 | | sympathy.
