| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William Edwin "Hutch" Hutchinson of | 4 | | McHenry, who passed away on August 6, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Hutchinson was born in Chicago to Margaret | 6 | | and James Hutchinson on December 8, 1929; he attended Schurz | 7 | | High School in Chicago, where he was a star athlete in | 8 | | basketball and football; after only playing two years of | 9 | | football, he was awarded a scholarship to the University of | 10 | | Wisconsin at Madison, where, as a senior, he earned the | 11 | | starting halfback slot and was the Big Ten leader in punt | 12 | | returns; his team finished the season as Big Ten Champions and | 13 | | participated in the 1953 Rose Bowl against the University of | 14 | | Southern California; he married JoAnn Macey on September 18, | 15 | | 1956; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, William Hutchinson and his wife moved to McHenry | 17 | | in 1958, where he taught physical education and drivers | 18 | | education at McHenry High School for 28 years; he coached | 19 | | football, wrestling, and cross country and started the track | 20 | | and field program; in 13 seasons as head wrestling coach, he | 21 | | had 10 straight winning seasons in the North Suburban | 22 | | Conference, including the 1962 Conference Championship; as | 23 | | head cross country coach for 19 years, he won six conference |

| 1 | | and six county championships, plus a third place finish in the | 2 | | state championship; he was also the first coach for the girls | 3 | | cross country team, which started in the late 70s; in 2009, he, | 4 | | along with his daughter, Sue, were inducted into the McHenry | 5 | | High School Athletic Hall of Fame; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, William Hutchinson loved fishing, woodworking, | 7 | | gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family; he was | 8 | | also a history buff, with a special focus on the Civil War; he | 9 | | always enjoyed a good college football game and was a lifelong | 10 | | Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls fan; after retiring, he and his | 11 | | wife purchased a cabin in northern Wisconsin and enjoyed many | 12 | | years renovating their lake house and making many wonderful | 13 | | friendships on the lake; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, William Hutchinson was preceded in death by his | 15 | | wife, JoAnn, and his brothers, James, Jerome, and Robert; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, William Hutchinson is survived by his children and | 17 | | grandchildren, Tom (Karen), William, Trevor, Lauren, Jerry | 18 | | (Cindy), Liam, Charlie, Sue (Joe) Carson, Macey, and Jack; | 19 | | therefore, be it
