| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of David Richard Sorensen of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on March 4, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Sorensen was born to Edward and Mable | 6 | | (Neumann) Sorensen in Moline on December 7, 1940; he graduated | 7 | | from Moline High School and served in the U.S. Army; he married | 8 | | Cathy Douglas, with whom he had two children; he later married | 9 | | Catherine Kuk in Davenport, Iowa on July 21, 1996; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, David Sorensen worked for Channel 8 as a news | 11 | | reporter and cinematographer for five years; he then worked | 12 | | for John Deere as a welder for over 25 years; in retirement, he | 13 | | worked as a seasonal gardener for the city of Moline for 13 | 14 | | years; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, David Sorensen was a member of the Left Bank Art | 16 | | League; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, David Sorensen enjoyed gardening and flowers; he | 18 | | was also a well-known local eclectic photographer, who | 19 | | especially enjoyed wildlife and bugs; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, David Sorensen was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents and his granddaughter, Annalea Schutz; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, David Sorensen is survived by his two children, | 3 | | Krista Schutz and Aaron (Patty) Sorensen; his four | 4 | | grandchildren, Sophia, Jenna, and Ava Schutz and Isabella | 5 | | Sorensen; his wife, Catherine; and his sister, Boni (Ward) | 6 | | Thompson; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 9 | | David Richard Sorensen and extend our sincere
condolences to | 10 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 13 | | presented to the family of David Sorensen as an expression of
| 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
