| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are proud to recognize those citizens who have | 4 | | performed dedicated service to their local community; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, In 1986, The citizens of Waggoner and the | 6 | | surrounding communities hoped to raise money for the | 7 | | maintenance of Waggoner's original high school gymnasium, | 8 | | which was built in 1921 and also served as the village's | 9 | | elementary school before it closed in 1986; to meet this | 10 | | financial goal, the Waggoner Centennial Players, a community | 11 | | theater group, was formed by Donald Webb and hosted its first | 12 | | original dinner theater production in 1989; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Every year since its formation, the community | 14 | | theater group comes together for a performance; the event | 15 | | includes everyone from the actors who decorate the tables and | 16 | | help serve the dinner prior to the performance, to members of | 17 | | the local high school's chapter of Future Farmers of America | 18 | | who wash the dishes; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Waggoner is a village with a population less than | 20 | | 300 people, and each year, more than 1,700 tickets are sold, by | 21 | | wait list only, for performances at the Centennial Building; | 22 | | performances occur over the first three weekends in March; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The fundraiser typically nets more than $20,000 | 2 | | and has allowed the Waggoner Centennial Building to remain open | 3 | | without the need of other State or federal funds; therefore, be | 4 | | it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 6 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 7 | | extend our best wishes, appreciation, and congratulations to | 8 | | the Village of Waggoner and the members of the Waggoner | 9 | | Centennial players on their 30th annual production; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That we join in expressing the sincere wish that | 12 | | the Waggoner Centennial Players may continue their successful | 13 | | fundraising efforts in the years to come; and be it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the members of the Waggoner Centennial Players and | 16 | | the Village of Waggoner.
