HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Annie
4Lee "Tut" Jones Turner, who passed away on September 21, 2024;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Annie Turner was born in Whaley, Mississippi to
7Allen and Katies Jones on December 23, 1935; she attended
8Whaley High school in Whaley, Mississippi; the family later
9moved to Greenwood, Mississippi, where she married Ollie
10Turner Sr.; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Annie Turner's family moved to Chicago in 1955 to
12pursue better opportunities; she was a member of St. Paul
13Methodist Church for 20 years and later joined Apostolic
14Church of God, where she was a faithful member; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Annie Turner would meditate and read her bible
16every morning; she took care of her family, had a strong sense
17of right and wrong, and had a beautiful smile; she was an
18organized and efficient woman and had words of wisdom for
19everyone she met; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Annie Turner was preceded in death by her
21parents; her husband, Ollie Turner Sr.; her sisters, Alberta

1Well, Catherine Jones, and Fannie Jones; her brothers, Joe
2Eddie Jones, John Jones, Allen Jones Jr., Soloman Jones,
3Eugene Jones, and Otha Jones; and her grandson, Troy Fletcher
4Harris; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Annie Turner is survived by her sisters, Virginia
6Kirkwood, Alexandria Jones, and Simon Jones; her children,
7Sammie (Dorothy) Turner, Barbara (Troy) Fletcher Harris, Ollie
8(Beverly) Turner, Connie (Floyd) Ogilvie, Ranell Turner,
9Dwight (Chris) Turner, Andre Turner, Patricia (Dwayne) Henley,
10and Sharon (Michae) McCoy; 20 grandchildren; 31
11great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and
12numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we mourn the passing of Annie Lee "Tut" Jones Turner and extend
17our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
18knew and loved her; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Annie Turner as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
