HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Annie Lee "Tut" Jones Turner, who passed away on September 21, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Annie Turner was born in Whaley, Mississippi to Allen and Katies Jones on December 23, 1935; she attended Whaley High school in Whaley, Mississippi; the family later moved to Greenwood, Mississippi, where she married Ollie Turner Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Annie Turner's family moved to Chicago in 1955 to pursue better opportunities; she was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church for 20 years and later joined Apostolic Church of God, where she was a faithful member; and

WHEREAS, Annie Turner would meditate and read her bible every morning; she took care of her family, had a strong sense of right and wrong, and had a beautiful smile; she was an organized and efficient woman and had words of wisdom for everyone she met; and

WHEREAS, Annie Turner was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ollie Turner Sr.; her sisters, Alberta Well, Catherine Jones, and Fannie Jones; her brothers, Joe Eddie Jones, John Jones, Allen Jones Jr., Soloman Jones, Eugene Jones, and Otha Jones; and her grandson, Troy Fletcher Harris; and

WHEREAS, Annie Turner is survived by her sisters, Virginia Kirkwood, Alexandria Jones, and Simon Jones; her children, Sammie (Dorothy) Turner, Barbara (Troy) Fletcher Harris, Ollie (Beverly) Turner, Connie (Floyd) Ogilvie, Ranell Turner, Dwight (Chris) Turner, Andre Turner, Patricia (Dwayne) Henley, and Sharon (Michae) McCoy; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Annie Lee "Tut" Jones Turner and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Annie Turner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
