| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Leah A. | 4 | | Walker, who passed away on August 25, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Leah Walker was born to Rudolph and Lois | 6 | | Armstrong in Chicago on February 22, 1942; she graduated from | 7 | | Hyde Park High School in 1960; she married Alfonza McKinnor on | 8 | | April 19, 1961; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Leah Walker worked as an operating room | 10 | | technician, but her true passion was her cooking and baking; | 11 | | she could make a meal out of anything and left her children | 12 | | with the world's greatest potato salad and meatball stew | 13 | | recipes; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Leah Walker also had a love for reading, which | 15 | | contributed to the uniqueness of her children's names; there | 16 | | was nothing she liked better than gathering with family and | 17 | | friends, as well as watching classic movies; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Leah Walker's caring heart and compassionate | 19 | | spirit were personified through her service as a caregiver; | 20 | | while serving in that capacity, she met John Walker, whom she | 21 | | married on October 10, 1990; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Leah Walker displayed courage and resilience | 2 | | throughout her life; she cared deeply about the equality and | 3 | | advancement of women's rights and will be especially | 4 | | remembered for her quick wit, upbeat spirit, and deep faith; | 5 | | she was adored and loved by all who knew her; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Leah Walker was preceded in death by her husband, | 7 | | John; her parents; her brother, Richard Armstrong Sr.; and her | 8 | | nephew, Richard Armstrong Jr.; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Leah Walker is survived by her children, | 10 | | Greshynka, Rommel (Latresha), Thrishka, Keisha, and Neitzche | 11 | | (Petrina); her bonus son, Brandon (Brandi); her grandchildren, | 12 | | Jonathan, Shenice, Jillian, Jason, Jibri, Kiara, Marcus, | 13 | | Jammie, and Nasir; her bonus grandchildren, Jazmen, Jayla, | 14 | | Brianna, and Bryce; nine great-grandchildren; her niece, | 15 | | Elizabeth Armstrong; and numerous cousins, relatives, and | 16 | | friends; therefore, be it
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 18 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 19 | | we mourn the passing of Leah A. Walker and extend our sincere | 20 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 21 | | her; and be it further
