| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lester Boe of Ottawa, who passed away on | 4 | | September 5, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lester Boe was born in Wallace Township to Hans | 6 | | and Tillie (Dale) Boe on July 27, 1916; he attended the | 7 | | one-room school house of Wallace Township through eighth grade; | 8 | | he joined the United States Army and served as a mechanic in | 9 | | Europe during World War II from 1941-1945; he participated in | 10 | | the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Naples, and Normandy; he | 11 | | married Esther Johnson at Hauge Lutheran Church in Chicago on | 12 | | November 17, 1945; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Lester Boe farmed in Wallace and Rutland Townships | 14 | | and worked for Caterpillar in Aurora until his retirement; he | 15 | | then drove a school bus for the Serena Community Unit School | 16 | | District #2 for a number of years; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Lester Boe loved farm life, threshing, and | 18 | | attending the Sandwich Fair and antique and farm toy shows; he | 19 | | created many models of antique farm equipment; he also enjoyed | 20 | | camping, fishing, spending time with his family, and going to | 21 | | McDonald's for daily coffee breaks; he faithfully attended | 22 | | church; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Lester Boe was preceded in death by his parents; | 2 | | his wife, Esther; his brothers, Howard, Tyler, Clarence, and | 3 | | Henry Boe; his sisters, Myrtle Alsvig, Alma Osthus, and Marie | 4 | | Low; and four siblings in infancy; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lester Boe is survived by his children, Eugene | 6 | | (Gudrun) Boe, Ruth (Larry) Stanford, Russell (Nancy) Boe, and | 7 | | Judy (Kevin) Snook; his nine grandchildren; and his 22 | 8 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Lester Boe, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 12 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Lester Boe as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
