| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William J. "Bill" Peterson of Rantoul, | 4 | | who passed away on July 28, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Peterson was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee | 6 | | on June 30, 1949 to William J. and Elizabeth (nee Schofield) | 7 | | Peterson; he married Cheryl Nelson on September 12, 1970; he | 8 | | served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam | 9 | | War, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Following his time in the military, Bill Peterson | 11 | | worked as a civilian at Chanute Air Force Base, repairing the | 12 | | trainers that were used to train active-duty U.S. Air Force | 13 | | personnel; for the last 20 years, he was a boiler room | 14 | | operator; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bill Peterson was affectionately known as "Billy" | 16 | | or "Pete"; he enjoyed bowling and fishing in his younger years | 17 | | and was always working on his car, washing and waxing it by | 18 | | hand; he had a passion for cooking and making people happy | 19 | | through the food he made; most of all, he loved spending time | 20 | | with his family; and

| 1 | | parents, and his sister, Sharon Peterson; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Bill Peterson is survived by his wife of nearly 45 | 3 | | years, Cheryl; his daughter, Christine (Troy) Bergman; his son, | 4 | | Erik (Beth) Peterson and their children, Leslie, Hannah, and | 5 | | Jonah; his sister, Sandra Thornton; his 2 brothers, Mike | 6 | | (Jeannie) Peterson and Pat (Leslie) Peterson; and many nieces | 7 | | and nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | William J. "Bill" Peterson, and extend our sincere condolences | 11 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 12 | | it further
