| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eddie Lee | 4 | | Jackson Sr. of East St. Louis, who passed away on December 18, | 5 | | 2020; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was born to Aaron Jackson and Fannie | 7 | | Mae Jackson in Canalou, Missouri on July 14, 1949; he graduated | 8 | | from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1967; he married | 9 | | Pearlie Mae Rich in October of 1969; he attended Southern | 10 | | Illinois University Edwardsville where he became a member of | 11 | | Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and earned a bachelor's degree | 12 | | in Education and later a master's degree focused on City | 13 | | Planning; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson started his political career in East | 15 | | St. Louis in the early 1970s and served on the East St. Louis | 16 | | City Council for more than 30 years; after retiring from East | 17 | | St. Louis School district 189 where he was a science teacher | 18 | | and gifted administrator, he served in the Illinois House of | 19 | | Representatives for 8 years, from 2009 to 2017, representing | 20 | | the 114th District; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Eddie attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist | 22 | | Church and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for |

| 1 | | more than 50 years; he was a gentle, kind, and quiet man who | 2 | | taught his family to lead by example; he was a mentor to many | 3 | | and worked throughout his life to make East St. Louis a better | 4 | | place for all; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was preceded in death by his mother; | 6 | | his father; his sister, Bernice Vales; his grandson, Tramell | 7 | | Jackson; and his granddaughter, Andersen Elise Hicks; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson is survived by his loving wife, | 9 | | Pearlie; his two children, Eddie (Shantell) Jackson Jr. and | 10 | | Emeka (Demarius) Jackson-Hicks; and his host of grandchildren, | 11 | | great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 13 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 14 | | we mourn the passing of Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. and extend our | 15 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | 16 | | and loved him; and be it further
