| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor the administration, | 4 |
| staff, and students of Carl Schurz High School on the occasion | 5 |
| of the school's 100 years of educational and social service to | 6 |
| the Chicago community; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School has graduated over 50,000 | 8 |
| students in its 100-year existence; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School has honored 86 of its | 10 |
| alumni in its Hall of Fame; Carl Schurz alumni include an | 11 |
| ambassador, a Nobel prize winner, 2 brigadier generals, | 12 |
| university presidents, college professors, doctors, lawyers, | 13 |
| scientists, bank presidents, corporate heads, philanthropists, | 14 |
| Olympic athletes, and media personnel; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School athletic teams have won | 16 |
| numerous, including city championships and a State title; Carl | 17 |
| Schurz students have also earned recognition in academics and | 18 |
| the fine arts; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School has been designated a | 20 |
| Chicago landmark and has applied to be placed on the National | 21 |
| Register of Historic Places; and

| WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School demonstrates true | 2 |
| devotion to the students and the community and maintains a | 3 |
| tradition of excellence; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 5 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 6 |
| honor the administration, staff, and students of Carl Schurz | 7 |
| High School on the occasion of the school's 100 years of | 8 |
| dedicated service and wish them continued success and happiness | 9 |
| in the future; and be it further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to Mary Ann Folino, principal
of Carl Schurz High | 12 |
| School, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
