| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Charles W. "Charlie" "Bob" Weiss of | 4 | | Hampton, who passed away on August 24, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charles Weiss was born in Clarion, Iowa on October | 6 | | 7, 1932 to Charlie E. and Marian F. Smith Weiss; he was raised | 7 | | on the family farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Dows, | 8 | | Iowa; he moved to Illinois in 1943; he served in the United | 9 | | States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954, | 10 | | stationed on the 38th Parallel; he married Valerie Baff on | 11 | | April 17, 1955 at Port Byron Methodist Church; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Charles Weiss started work at the age of 16 at | 13 | | International Harvester in East Moline, where he worked for 43 | 14 | | years before retiring; he then contracted with them for 13 more | 15 | | years until the plant closed in 2004; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Charles Weiss was a member of Hampton Grace | 17 | | Methodist Church for 50 years, a Free Mason for 55 years, Past | 18 | | Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a Hampton | 19 | | volunteer firefighter; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Charles Weiss was preceded in death by his | 21 | | parents; his infant daughter, Lisa Jeane; his brother, Harold |

| 3 | | WHEREAS, Charles Weiss is survived by his wife of 60 years, | 4 | | Valerie; his daughter, Stacey (Michael) Graham; his son, | 5 | | Charles J. (Melinda) Weiss; his grandchildren, Tami (Guy) | 6 | | Gerard, Jeremy (Teanna) McCabe, Charles Thomas (Sherrod) | 7 | | Weiss, Joseph Weiss, and Hilary Graham (fiance, Jeffery | 8 | | Shaffer); his great-grandchildren, Morgan and Alexis Gerard, | 9 | | Myles and Cole McCabe, and Landen Shaffer; his sister, Betty | 10 | | Baff; and his brothers, William Weiss and Byrl Weiss; | 11 | | therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Charles W. "Charlie" "Bob" Weiss, and extend our sincere | 15 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 16 | | him; and be it further
