| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard L. VanderLeest of Colona, who | 4 | | passed away on January 15, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest was born in Denver, Colorado | 6 | | to Robert and Amelia "Billie" (Foxall) VanderLeest on February | 7 | | 4, 1943; he married Nancy Owens in Ohio, Illinois on September | 8 | | 20, 1970; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest served in the U.S. Army during | 10 | | the Vietnam era where he worked as a computer programmer, a | 11 | | position he held for over 20 years; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest was a member of the Vietnam | 13 | | Vets Chapter 299 in the Quad-Cities and the American Legion | 14 | | Post 1233 in Colona; he was also a Rock Island County Master | 15 | | Gardener; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest was preceded in death by his | 17 | | parents; his sister, Charlotte Morris; and his brother, Robert | 18 | | VanderLeest; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest is survived by his wife, Nancy | 20 | | VanderLeest; his aunt, Ione Brown; his uncle, Harold Horn Jr.; |
