| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of David J. Hume, D.D.S. of Bloomington, who | 4 | | passed away on January 28, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hume was born in Ottawa to Millard and | 6 | | Gertrude Churchill Hume on August 6, 1932; he married Jane P. | 7 | | Lepper in Ottawa on June 18, 1955; he was a U.S. Navy veteran, | 8 | | who was stationed as a dentist in San Diego; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hume practiced dentistry for over 45 years; he | 10 | | was the owner and operator of Hume Dental Associates in | 11 | | Bloomington; after his retirement, he worked as a ship dentist | 12 | | on the Holland America Line for four years; alongside his wife, | 13 | | he owned an antiques store called the Village Peddler in | 14 | | Bloomington; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hume was involved in a number of | 16 | | organizations, including the Lions Club and the Young Men's | 17 | | Club; he was also a past president of the McLean County Dental | 18 | | Society; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hume enjoyed sailing and was proud to have | 20 | | built his very own sailboat; he also enjoyed traveling, snow | 21 | | skiing in Colorado, scuba diving, camping in his Airstream, and |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hume was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, | 3 | | and his brother, Roger; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hume is survived by his children, Cindy Hume, | 5 | | Amy (John) Dwyer, Scott (Barb) Hume, Stephen (Sherri) Hume, and | 6 | | Jonathan (Kristy) Hume; his 14 grandchildren; his five | 7 | | great-grandchildren; and his sister, Martha Jahnke; therefore, | 8 | | be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | David J. Hume, D.D.S. and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Dr. Hume as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy.
