| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Michael W. Wurtz of Woodstock, who passed | 4 | | away on February 7, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz was born in Des Plaines on April 22, | 6 | | 1966 to William N. and Ilyce (nee Tilden) Wurtz; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz started with the Woodstock | 8 | | Fire/Rescue District in January of 2002 and became a full-time | 9 | | firefighter on July 17, 2006 under Badge #22; he was attached | 10 | | to Station #2; in addition to serving as a firefighter, he was | 11 | | a police officer with the McCullom Lake Police Department; he | 12 | | also served as a MABAS Division 5 Fire Investigator, was part | 13 | | of the Lake/McHenry County Wildland Firefighting Team, and was | 14 | | a member of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois State | 15 | | Honor Guard; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz married Melissa M. Suriano on | 17 | | September 8, 2012 at Fire Station #3 in Woodstock; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz was a member of the International | 19 | | Association of Firefighters Local 4813, as well as the Heat and | 20 | | Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 17; he enjoyed being | 21 | | with his family and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz was preceded in death by his father; | 2 | | and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz is survived by his wife, Melissa; | 4 | | his daughters, Katelyn Wurtz, Meghan Wurtz, and Reilly Wurtz; | 5 | | his step-children, Anna Kempka and Johnny Kempka; his brother, | 6 | | Brian Wurtz; his sisters, Debbie Murphy, Brenda Smart, and | 7 | | Laura Wurtz; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Michael W. Wurtz, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Michael Wurtz as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
