SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Cristian Medrano, who passed away on April 12, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Cristian Medrano was born to Clarissa Dieppa and Sergio Medrano in Aurora on July 12, 1996; he graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in 2014; he received his bachelor's degree from Aurora University; and

WHEREAS, Cristian Medrano joined the Aurora Fire Department in March 2024 and was assigned to Station 1, realizing his lifelong aspiration of serving as a firefighter; and

WHEREAS, Cristian Medrano was very interested in the culinary arts, particularly cooking and baking, earning him the proud title of being a "foodie"; he delighted in exploring eateries and coffee shops; he enjoyed golfing, playing board games, especially Monopoly, and traveling with his family, with especially favorite memories of trips to Colombia and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and

WHEREAS, Cristian Medrano loved spending time with his family above all else; and

WHEREAS, Cristian Medrano is survived by his parents; his sister, Alexis (Joshua) Vargas; his brother, Mykol (Selena) Dieppa; his longtime girlfriend, Savanah Zbinden; his nephew and godson, Thiago Vargas; his maternal grandparents, Rita Ramos and Alfonso (Socorro) Dieppa; his longtime best friends, Erick Cepeda and Michelle Yague; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Cristian Medrano and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Cristian Medrano as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
