| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Duane Homer Mitchell, who passed away on | 4 | | October 1, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell was born in Arthur to Homer W. and | 6 | | Jessie Erhardt Mitchell on December 4, 1927; he graduated from | 7 | | Moline High School in 1946 and joined the United States Army | 8 | | Air Force that same year; he graduated from the University of | 9 | | Illinois in 1951 and married Beverly J. Matzen in East Moline | 10 | | on July 18, 1953; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell retired as general manager of | 12 | | accounting from Litton Industries in 1992 after 40 years of | 13 | | service; in 1964, he was named the "Most Valuable Member" by | 14 | | the National Association of Accountants; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell was a member of Homewood | 16 | | Evangelical Free Church in Moline; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, | 17 | | and golf; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and | 18 | | Illini Sports; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife | 20 | | of 56 years, Beverly; his parents; his brothers, George Isaac | 21 | | and Eugene Earl; and his friend, Buda Larson; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell is survived by his daughters, | 2 | | Danielle (Raymond Emry) and Susan (Lauren Elgin); his | 3 | | granddaughters, Kelley (Ben Jaszewski) and Megan Emry; his | 4 | | grandsons, Ryan Carlson and Lane Carlson; his | 5 | | great-grandchildren, Charlotte Jaszewski and Jameson | 6 | | Jaszewski; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and | 7 | | Joanne Johnson; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Shellenberger; and | 8 | | many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Duane Homer Mitchell, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
