| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Ken Leonard on the | 4 | | occasion of his retirement as head coach of the Sacred | 5 | | Heart-Griffin (SHG) High School football team, the Cyclones, | 6 | | at the end of the 2022 season; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Coach Leonard has been coaching football since | 8 | | 1980; over his 42 seasons as a football coach, he has achieved | 9 | | an overall record of 419-81; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Coach Leonard has served as head coach of the SHG | 11 | | Cyclones in Springfield since 1984; while coaching at SHG, he | 12 | | has achieved an overall record of 387-72; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure, Coach Leonard has led his team | 14 | | to 11 state championships, achieving victories in 2005, 2006, | 15 | | 2008, 2013, 2014, and 2022; he has also led his team to four | 16 | | additional title-game appearances; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, In his last season, Coach Leonard successfully | 18 | | led his team to the state championship game one more time; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Outside his work on the field, Coach Leonard | 20 | | served as the athletic director of SHG; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Coach Leonard, known affectionately as "Mr. SHG", | 2 | | will retire as the all-time winningest football coach in | 3 | | Illinois High School Association history; therefore, be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 5 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 6 | | we congratulate Ken Leonard on his retirement as head coach of | 7 | | the Sacred Heart-Griffin (SHG) High School football team, the | 8 | | Cyclones, recognize his years of service and dedication to the | 9 | | team, and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to Ken Leonard as an expression of our esteem and | 13 | | respect.
