| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Oak Forest Police Department police | 4 | | officer James Morrissy, who passed away in the line of duty on | 5 | | March 17, 2014; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy was born on July 30, 1951; he | 7 | | graduated from Tinley Park High School in 1969
and attended | 8 | | Thornton Community College; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy served his country with pride as a | 10 | | member of the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, having | 11 | | obtained the rank of E-4; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy began his career with the Oak | 13 | | Forest Police Department on July 16, 1992; during his career, | 14 | | he served as as a field training officer
and a truck | 15 | | enforcement officer; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy was the recipient of numerous | 17 | | awards and honors, including 9 annual awards from the Alliance | 18 | | against Intoxicated Motorists for DUI Enforcement,
numerous | 19 | | commendations and appreciative letters from the public, and
a | 20 | | Heroic Action Award from the City of Country Club Hills for | 21 | | risking his life during the arrest of an armed
suspect; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy was known for his great passion for | 2 | | working in patrol
and serving the public; he will be remembered | 3 | | fondly as one of the most pro-active and productive
officers in | 4 | | his department; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, James Morrissy is survived by his loving wife, | 6 | | Janice Morrissy,
and his sons, Kyle, Marc, and Jacob; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of James Morrissy; and be | 11 | | it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of James Morrissy as an expression of | 14 | | our sympathy.
