| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Senate is saddened to learn of the | 3 | | passing of Lindsey Everett Allen Jr. of Carterville, who passed | 4 | | away on January 15, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Everett Allen was born to Lindsey Everett and | 6 | | LaVeta Lilian (Bowman) Allen in Beardstown on October 8, 1935; | 7 | | he married Cathy Dianne Larsen in Las Vegas on July 12, 1993; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In his earlier years, Everett Allen was a talented | 10 | | sportsman; he won a track meet "by a nose", played a six-man | 11 | | game of football and scored seven touchdowns, and scored 12 | 12 | | points at a 1953 Harlem Globetrotter basketball game; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Everett Allen began working at the Carbondale | 14 | | "Fina" Gas Station in 1962; later, he took a job in Mason | 15 | | County, working for the government clearing forests; he also | 16 | | worked as a barge hand on the "Harriet Ann", a tow boat, up | 17 | | until his time in the service; after honorably serving our | 18 | | country in the United States Army, Everett purchased a dump | 19 | | truck and began a trash route in Carterville; the business | 20 | | eventually grew, thriving in southern Illinois, Missouri, and | 21 | | Kentucky and employing over 90 workers.; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Everett Allen was fondly referred to as " Papa Ice | 2 | | Cream Man" by many families and kids during summers spent pool | 3 | | side; he liked to help local kids by purchasing their class | 4 | | rings and letter jackets and was also an avid NASCAR fan who | 5 | | followed the circuit for many years; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Everett Allen was preceded in death by his | 7 | | parents, Lindsey Everett and LaVeta Lilian (Bowman) Allen; his | 8 | | daughter, Cynthia (Ronnie) Weihl; and his brother, Carl Allen; | 9 | | and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Everett Allen is survived by his loving wife of 27 | 11 | | years, Cathy Allen; his daughters, Debbie Allen Murphy and | 12 | | Bertie Moore; his son, Jeff (Jacinta) Alstat; his | 13 | | grandchildren, Ryan (Beth) Brooks, John (Erin) Patterson, Kody | 14 | | Boyd, Josh (Emily) Alstat, Andrew Alstat, Brooke Schimdgall, | 15 | | Bridget Buffington, Daltun Hasty, Lyndsay Timmons, Allie | 16 | | (Jimmy) Hartwick-Pearsley, and Delaynie Dearmond; his 15 | 17 | | great-grandchildren; his brothers, Bob (Linda) Allen and Roger | 18 | | Allen; his sister, Maxine (Walt) Ball; his nephew, Brad | 19 | | (Jeanie) Allen; his nieces, Becki Allen, Rachel Allen, Michelle | 20 | | Garvey, and Ashley (Nick) Bigler; and his many dear friends, | 21 | | including Steve Hess, George (Connie) Calhoun, Keith (Barbara) | 22 | | Boze, Bill Hasty, and Frank (Donna) Gunderson; therefore, be it

| 1 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 2 | | Lindsey Everett Allen Jr. and extend our sincere

| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 6 | | presented to the family of Everett Allen as an expression of
