| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives would like to congratulate Dr. Constance | 4 | | "Connie" Collins on the occasion of her retirement as Round | 5 | | Lake Area United District 116 Superintendent; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Collins arrived in Round Lake in 2010, when | 7 | | the district was under state control; now, Round Lake High | 8 | | School has been named as one of the state's top schools and the | 9 | | district has also received the certificate of financial | 10 | | excellence from the Association of School Business Officials | 11 | | for four consecutive years; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Collins oversaw the $29 million Round Lake | 13 | | High renovation that created STEM classrooms and labs, new | 14 | | athletic facilities, and a business incubator program; under | 15 | | her leadership, the high school's graduation rate increased | 16 | | from 72 percent to 90 percent in the last three years; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Collins has served the Lake County area as a | 18 | | board member for a number of organizations, including the YWCA | 19 | | of Lake County, SJCB Performing Arts Center, Lake County High | 20 | | Schools Technology Campus, Northern Lake County Conference, | 21 | | ECRA Advisory Board, Fox Lake/Round Lake Rotary Club, Round | 22 | | Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Round Lake Area Exchange |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Collins has been a partner on many important | 3 | | State and local initiatives, including helping to pass the | 4 | | education funding overhaul; her advocacy and work to improve | 5 | | the lives of the district's children, their parents, teachers, | 6 | | and other academic professionals is unmatched; the greater | 7 | | Round Lake area and schools are directly better because of her | 8 | | tireless work; as a result of her stewardship, the school is a | 9 | | better place that will continue to thrive, both educationally | 10 | | and economically; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 12 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 13 | | congratulate Dr. Constance "Connie" Collins on the occasion of | 14 | | her retirement as Round Lake Area United District 116 | 15 | | Superintendent, and we recognize her leadership and commitment | 16 | | to the education of her students; and be it further
