| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to
congratulate the Oswego Chamber | 4 | | of Commerce on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of
its | 5 | | founding; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber was originally known as the Oswego | 7 | | Business Men's Association
dating back to 1937, becoming the | 8 | | Oswego Business Association in 1957 where
meetings were held on | 9 | | the third Tuesday of each month; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, On July 12, 1984 the Oswego Business Association | 11 | | officially became the Oswego
Chamber of Commerce to promote | 12 | | business throughout the Oswego area with Hamilton
Grant serving | 13 | | as the Chamber's first President and Jeff Harvey as the first | 14 | | Vice-President;
and | 15 | | WHEREAS, The mission of the Oswego Chamber of Commerce is | 16 | | to promote the growth and
prosperity of Oswego businesses by | 17 | | connecting them to resources, relationship, and value-added
| 18 | | benefits to foster a successful business community; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, In advancing the interests of business | 20 | | professionals and service organizations
in the area, the Oswego | 21 | | Chamber of Commerce serves a vital role in the development and

| 1 | | promotion of economic activity in Oswego, enhancing the quality | 2 | | of life of its residents; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber has been a strong partner working with | 4 | | major companies such as
Jimmy Johns and Hobby Lobby, which | 5 | | recently announced that it will open a store in
Oswego creating | 6 | | 50 new jobs; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber and its energetic ambassadors host | 8 | | many community-building
events throughout the year such as | 9 | | Coffee with the Chamber events, new business ribbon
cuttings, | 10 | | the Chamber's annual dinner and the Business Expo which is held | 11 | | each spring to
showcase the Chamber's members to the Oswego | 12 | | community; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber sees Oswego schools as a vital partner | 14 | | for a healthy community
and each year hosts a New Teacher | 15 | | Breakfast to welcome new teachers to the area and give
them | 16 | | information on resources that assist the new teachers in and | 17 | | out of the classroom; the
breakfast also provides the revenue | 18 | | needed for 2 scholarships awarded to a senior from
each Oswego | 19 | | area high school each year; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber continues to help Oswego's business | 21 | | community grow and
succeed as evidenced by its current 430 | 22 | | active members; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber is ably led by its President/CEO Angie | 2 | | Hibben, Financial Accounts
Manager Jeannine Kristianson, | 3 | | Administrative Assistance Meghan Wagner, and the
Chamber's 11 | 4 | | member Board of Directors including Chairman Tim Leverich, | 5 | | Vice-Chairman Annemarie Armbrust, Treasurer Scott Vickers, | 6 | | Secretary Lynn Flores, and the area business
leaders who sit on | 7 | | the Board; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber has, for 30 years, served and will | 9 | | continue to serve as a model of
hard work, integrity, and | 10 | | dedication in attracting jobs and improving economic
| 11 | | development in the Oswego area and the State; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 13 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 14 | | we honor the staff and board of directors of
the Oswego Chamber | 15 | | of Commerce for their work in attracting economic development | 16 | | to
Oswego and congratulate them on the 30 years of excellence | 17 | | and dedication the Chamber
has provided to the village of | 18 | | Oswego; and be it further
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the Oswego Chamber of
Commerce as a symbol of our | 21 | | esteem and respect.
