| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Harlan E. Johannsen of Morrison, who | 4 | | passed away on September 19, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen was born on April 18, 1928 in | 6 | | Sabula, Iowa; his parents were Otto H. and Anna M. (nee | 7 | | Ingwersen) Johannsen; he married Wilma Medendorp on September | 8 | | 19, 1964 at Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen served in the United States Army | 10 | | during the Korean War; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen was educated in Miles, Iowa grade | 12 | | schools and was a graduate of Miles High School; he began | 13 | | farming in the Miles, Iowa area; in 1956, he moved to Morrison, | 14 | | where he continued to farm; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen was a member of Emmanuel Reformed | 16 | | Church in Morrison and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau; he was | 17 | | a life member of over 60 continuous years of the Morrison | 18 | | American Legion Post #328, where he served as commander and as | 19 | | the Whiteside County Commander for the American Legion; while | 20 | | at the American Legion, he also served on the firing squad, | 21 | | marched in parades for Memorial Day and Veterans Day, and |

| 1 | | placed flags on veterans' gravesites on Veterans Day in several | 2 | | Whiteside County cemeteries; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents and his sister, Rojean Duben; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen is survived by his wife, Wilma; | 6 | | his son, Keith (Amy) Johannsen; his grandsons, Kelby and Avery | 7 | | Johannsen; and his sister, Donna Loomis; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Harlan E. Johannsen; | 11 | | and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Harlan Johannsen as an expression of | 14 | | our sympathy.
