| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Fred Q. Cregier of Geneva, who passed | 4 | | away on February 10, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Fred Cregier was born in Geneva on September 20, | 6 | | 1927 to Fred, Sr. and Julia (nee Marcheschi) Cregier; he | 7 | | graduated from Geneva High School and attended night courses at | 8 | | Aurora College, earning a Manufacturing Certificate; he later | 9 | | attended an Executive Development program at the University of | 10 | | Pittsburgh; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Fred Cregier worked for many years in the | 12 | | manufacturing industry, first at the Dunbar Kapple Company in | 13 | | Geneva; in 1951, he entered the military and for 2 years served | 14 | | in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps during the Korean War; | 15 | | following the war, he returned to Dunbar Kapple for a time | 16 | | before joining the Dukes Hydraulics Company in Schiller Park; | 17 | | he married Joyce in 1957; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dukes Hydraulics was purchased by the Victor | 19 | | Equipment Company of San Francisco and became part of Victor's | 20 | | Hydraulics Division, with Fred Cregier the plant manager of the | 21 | | Dukes facility; his division was eventually acquired by the | 22 | | International Harvester Company and Fred was named President of |

| 1 | | the Hydraulics Division, overseeing 3 plants in Iowa, | 2 | | Minnesota, and Franklin Park; he and a number of other | 3 | | employees later purchased the division from International | 4 | | Harvester, moving it to St. Charles and renaming it Dukes Fluid | 5 | | Power; they owned and operated it for 6 years before selling to | 6 | | the Danfoss Company, with Fred staying on for 3 years, retiring | 7 | | in 1992; in 1995, he married Jo Ann (James) Olesen of Geneva; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Fred Cregier enjoyed the family's beautiful home | 10 | | on the Fox River in Geneva, the site of his mother and father's | 11 | | home and grandparents home, golfing, boating, and fishing, | 12 | | often with his children and grandchildren; during retirement, | 13 | | he and Jo Ann traveled, mainly to Europe; he also volunteered | 14 | | with numerous organizations, including Big Brothers, Lazarus | 15 | | House, Hesed House, and Feed My Starving Children; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Fred Cregier was active politically as a volunteer | 17 | | in local, State, and federal campaigns, partly inspired by his | 18 | | family's background - his grandfather, the late DeWitt C. | 19 | | Cregier, was mayor of Chicago, 1889 to 1891; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Fred Cregier was preceded in death by his parents | 21 | | Fred Q. Cregier and Julia (nee Marcheschi) Cregier, and by his | 22 | | brother, Robert; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Fred Cregier is survived by his second wife, Jo | 2 | | Ann; his children, COL Rod (Cindy), Dr. Christienne (Paul) | 3 | | Grunenwald, Jocelyn (Bill) Nettelhorst, and Melissa (Shrish) | 4 | | Rane; his grandchildren, Nathan, Stephanie, Rachel, and | 5 | | Garrett Cregier, Katie, Maggie, Jack, and Sarah Grunenwald, | 6 | | Calvin and Griffin Nettelhorst, and Sofia and Anica Rane; his | 7 | | wife Jo Ann's children, Michael (Kelly), Markus (Marci), and | 8 | | Matthew; and her grandchildren, Madison, Max, and Brittni; his | 9 | | sisters, Gloria (Tim) Emma and Angela (John) Cygan; and many | 10 | | nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Fred Q. Cregier, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
