| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Arthur W. Dixon of | 4 |
| Galesburg on February 21, 2005; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dixon was born May 9, 1919, in Peoria, the son | 6 |
| of Worth and Leila Kessler
Dixon; he was raised and educated in | 7 |
| Elmwood, graduating from Elmwood High School; he attended | 8 |
| Western Illinois University in Macomb; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He married Darlene Booz on Dec. 13, 1953, in | 10 |
| Knoxville; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He served in the Navy during World War II; he | 12 |
| worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years, | 13 |
| retiring in 1980; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of Orange Chapel United Methodist | 15 |
| Church, rural Gilson, where he was a member of the United | 16 |
| Methodist Men; he was also a member of the Prairie Hub Club of | 17 |
| Galesburg and Senior Bowling League; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; two | 19 |
| children, Artie Dixon and Marilyn Robinson; and two brothers | 20 |
| and a sister; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Arthur W. Dixon is felt by all who | 22 |
| knew and loved him, especially his wife, Darlene; his daughter, | 23 |
| Candy Lynn Knapp; his sons, Arlyn Wade Dixon,
Clifford Dixon, | 24 |
| Robert Dixon, and Kenny Dixon; his special son, Kenneth | 25 |
| (Jeanie) Williams; his sisters, Doris (Art) Kent, Margaret | 26 |
| Clark, and Martha (Jim) Ogle; his brother, Chuck (Charlyne) | 27 |
| Dixon; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; | 28 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 2 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 3 |
| Arthur W. Dixon and extend our sincerest condolences to his | 4 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
| 5 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 6 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest | 7 |
| sympathy.
