| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate River City | 4 | | Construction on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its | 5 | | founding; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, In October of 2014, River City Construction will | 7 | | celebrate its 30th year in business; since its inception,
River | 8 | | City Construction has completed over $3,750,000,000 worth of | 9 | | construction projects; River City
Construction was founded on | 10 | | the guiding principles of providing quality projects that are | 11 | | completed
safely, on time, within budget, and with an | 12 | | uncompromising commitment to customer satisfaction; as
such, | 13 | | River City Construction has established and maintained | 14 | | long-term, ongoing relationships with
many of the customers it | 15 | | works with - a testament to River City Construction's | 16 | | commitment to its guiding principles; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, River City Construction was founded in 1984 by 6 | 18 | | middle management employees - Jim
Barr, Don Brennan, Joe West, | 19 | | Wynne Carter, Lu Ori, and Jim Wendle - who had previously | 20 | | worked for V.
Jobst and Sons; these
individuals decided to pool | 21 | | their resources and do whatever it took to make a go of a new | 22 | | construction
company; it was a courageous move and their gamble | 23 | | paid off as River City Construction's principals
aggressively |

| 1 | | pursued and won a number of contracts; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, In 1992, River City Construction opened its second | 3 | | location in Benton with the office being
managed by Bernie | 4 | | Koch; he started at River City Construction in 1987 as a | 5 | | project manager,
becoming a company principal in 1991; he has | 6 | | served as River City Construction's President since
2008; in | 7 | | 1998, the River City Design Group was formed; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, In 2002, River City Construction moved into its | 9 | | new headquarters in East Peoria; this
building has served both | 10 | | as a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment for | 11 | | staff as well as a
welcoming environment for visiting clients; | 12 | | it also serves as an example of River City's design and | 13 | | building
talents; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, In 2004, River City Construction opened an office | 15 | | in Ashland, Missouri with the office being managed by John | 16 | | Sutherland; he was hired by River City Construction in 1993 as | 17 | | a project manager, and in January of 2009, he became a company | 18 | | principal; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, River City Construction's core values have not | 20 | | changed but its business has indeed grown and expanded
over 30 | 21 | | years; today, River City Construction's principals include: | 22 | | President Bernie Koch and Vice-Presidents Lu Ori, John |

| 1 | | Hoelscher, Eric Bursott, John Sutherland, Kent Kampwerth, and | 2 | | Steve Dorris; therefore, be it
| 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 4 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 5 | | we congratulate River City Construction on its 30th anniversary | 6 | | and wish its officers and employees every success
in the | 7 | | future; and be it further
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to River City Construction as an expression of our | 10 | | esteem and respect.
