| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Robert | 4 |
| V. Marks Sr. of Aurora, who passed away on February 14, 2008; | 5 |
| and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Robert V. Marks Sr. was born on July 27, 1926 in | 7 |
| Aurora; he was the son of Volorious and Marie (Burgholzer) | 8 |
| Marks; he married Charlotte (Sue) Kettleson on July 19, 1952; | 9 |
| and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Robert V. Marks Sr. was employed as a bus driver | 11 |
| for National City Lines of Aurora for 6 years; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Robert V. Marks Sr. served with distinction as an | 13 |
| Aurora Fire Fighter for 25 years; serving from October 15, 1952 | 14 |
| until his retirement in 1977; his former employment as a bus | 15 |
| driver made him particularly qualified for his duties of | 16 |
| backing the fire truck into the station; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Robert V. Marks Sr. was employed with Schaeffer's | 18 |
| Greenhouse alongside his best friend, Bill Baumann, for 32 | 19 |
| years; he was employed by the Oswego School District for 14 | 20 |
| years, remaining there until his passing; and |

| WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the Aurora Fire | 2 |
| Department, Robert V. Marks Sr. became an active member of the | 3 |
| Aurora Fire Museum; he was also a member of the Tiger Club, the | 4 |
| Montgomery VFW, and the Kane Kounty Kar Klub; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Robert V. Marks Sr. was preceded in death by his | 6 |
| parents; his wife, Sue; his brother, John; his sister, Mary; | 7 |
| his son-in-law, Larry Henn Sr.; and his grandson, Michael | 8 |
| Trimarco; and | 9 |
| WHEREAS, Robert V. Marks Sr. is survived by his children, | 10 |
| Robert Jr. (Kathy), Ken (Carla) Marks, Melodye (Craig) Tossing, | 11 |
| and Lyn Henn; his nieces that he and his wife raised, Jean | 12 |
| (Tod) Fairbank and Mary (Ross) DeLeon; his special niece, Linda | 13 |
| Day; his special nephews, John and Rick Marks; his | 14 |
| grandchildren, Ron (Jill) Trimarco, Julie, Steven, Katie, and | 15 |
| Kyle Marks, Tyler, Stefanie, Kellie Atkinson, Alex Tossing, and | 16 |
| Larry Henn; his special grandchildren, Joey, Brandon, and | 17 |
| Daniel De Leon and Michael Bender; his great-grandchildren, | 18 |
| Ben, Zac, and William Trimarco, Gabriel DeLeon, and Talan | 19 |
| Atkinson; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, | 20 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 22 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 23 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of Robert |
