| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Peter | 4 | | (Piotr) Krystian Domaradzki, who tragically lost his life on | 5 | | November 4, 2015 at the age of 69; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Peter | 7 | | Domaradzki's unfortunate passing by the Honorable | 8 | | Representatives of the 19th and 39th Districts, Robert Martwick | 9 | | and William Guzzardi; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Peter Domaradzki was born on June 21, 1946 in | 11 | | Strzelce Opolskie, Poland; he graduated from the University of | 12 | | Gdansk with a degree in military history and immigrated with | 13 | | his family to America in 1985; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Peter Domaradzki built a full and extraordinary | 15 | | life in Chicago, where he became the editor of the Dziennik | 16 | | Zwiazkowy newspaper; he was also a dedicated contributor to the | 17 | | online resource Wikipedia in both English and Polish; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Peter Domaradzki published the novel "Wiorki | 19 | | Kokosowe" (Coconut Shreds), which was published in Poland in | 20 | | 2003; among his historical treatises were "Homo Armatus: | 21 | | History of Warfare in Antiquity" (1979), "The Defense of Lwow" |

| 1 | | and "Polish Corps in Russia 1917-1919" (both published by | 2 | | Solidarity Press in 1981), and "General Anders and the Soldiers | 3 | | of the II Polish Corps" (2002); and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Peter Domaradzki's numerous historical essays | 5 | | were a regular feature in Dziennik Zwiazkowy's weekly culture | 6 | | and entertainment section, Kalejdoskop (Kaleidoscope); and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Peter Domaradzki was involved in the | 8 | | anti-communist opposition in Poland, being an active member of | 9 | | the Solidarity Trade Union; he continued his patriotic | 10 | | activities on behalf of Poland after gaining political asylum | 11 | | in the United States; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Peter Domaradzki was also a talented graphic | 13 | | artist and painter who was active in Chicago's visual art | 14 | | scene; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Peter Domaradzki is survived by his loving wife, | 16 | | Janina; his children, Sara and Krystian; his brother, Wojciech | 17 | | Gruszka; and his nephews, Maciej and Jacek Gruszka; therefore, | 18 | | be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 20 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 21 | | pause to pay tribute to the achievements of Peter Domaradzki |

| 1 | | and mourn his passing; and be it further
| 2 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 3 | | presented to the family of Peter Domaradzki as an expression of | 4 | | our sympathy.
