| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Dorothy Jean Gizynski on | 4 | | the occasion of her 100th birthday on March 19, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Gizynski was born on the Knollslea Farm in | 6 | | Antioch to Paul Messiter and Jean Mae Rosa
Ferris on March 19, | 7 | | 1916; she had an older brother and two
younger sisters; she | 8 | | graduated from Emmons Grade School and
Antioch Township High | 9 | | School; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Gizynski worked with her father on the | 11 | | farm from an early age; she also
worked in the family business, | 12 | | Lake Marie Camp; after High School, she worked at a
variety of | 13 | | jobs in Antioch - as a store clerk at a department store, in a | 14 | | general store
behind the counter, and at a meat packing plant; | 15 | | in the summers she worked at
Lake Marie Camp; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, In 1951, Dorothy Gizynski became one of the first | 17 | | Tupperware sales people to hold home
parties, becoming very | 18 | | successful due to her personality and hard work; she was a very | 19 | | good bowler and was on several
competitive leagues; she | 20 | | traveled by bus on a tour of the western states; she enjoyed | 21 | | spending time with her nieces and nephews, and as her
parents | 22 | | grew older, she drove them to Florida each year and then came |

the farm to tend animals and gather and sell eggs; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Gizynski married Raymond Gizynski in | 3 | | 1956; she met
him at the campground, and after they married, | 4 | | they moved to
Melrose Park; on weekends, they continued to | 5 | | travel to Antioch in the summer
months to help her parents; she | 6 | | ran the campground until the mid 1980s; during her time running | 7 | | the business, she held several charitable events to
raise money | 8 | | for Cerebral Palsy, using her skills as a "Tupperware Lady"; | 9 | | she was
very kind to friends and relatives who were sick and | 10 | | served as a driver for many
people; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Gizynski was active at Triton College in | 12 | | Melrose
Park in the late 1980s though 2005; she volunteered in | 13 | | the flower shop and her flowers brought joy to many people; she | 14 | | then worked as the assistant to the Vice-President of Human | 15 | | Resources; she
retired at the age of 88; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Gizynski was active in the Eastern Star | 17 | | and became Worthy Matron in the 1980s; she
continued to | 18 | | participate in the Eastern Star even after she moved to Girard | 19 | | in 2005; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Gizynski moved to Pleasant Hill
Village in | 21 | | December of 2005, where she volunteers and helps others, which | 22 | | has
always been an important part of her life; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 2 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 3 | | congratulate Dorothy Jean Gizynski on her 100th birthday and we | 4 | | wish her many more wonderful years; and be it further
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 6 | | presented to Dorothy Jean Gizynski as an expression of our | 7 | | esteem and respect.
