| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Donald R. "Don" Gavers of Woodstock, who | 4 | | passed away on September 2, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Gavers was born in Chicago on March 22, 1936 | 6 | | to Otto and Ann (nee DeVogelaere) Gavers; he served with the | 7 | | 82nd Airborne Division, stationed in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; | 8 | | he married Sally Schumacher on October 21, 1961 and they | 9 | | settled in Woodstock; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Don Gavers was President and founder of Gavers | 11 | | Asphalt, Paving, & Excavation Company, established in 1969; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Don Gavers' hobbies included a love of tractors, | 13 | | right down to riding his John Deere mower; equipment auctions | 14 | | and estate sales were among some of his past times; most Sunday | 15 | | mornings he could be found holding a meeting at a local coffee | 16 | | shop with his "cronies" and lifelong business partner and best | 17 | | friend, Billy Hansen; he was a lifetime member of Woodstock | 18 | | Moose Lodge 1329; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Don Gavers was preceded in death by his parents; | 20 | | his 2 brothers, Bill Gavers and Joe Gavers; and his 2 nieces; | 21 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Don Gavers is survived by his wife, Sally Gavers; | 2 | | his 2 sons, Steve "Hozy" (Diane) Gavers and Dan "Digger" | 3 | | Gavers; his step-granddaughter, Ashley Ackerman; his siblings, | 4 | | Bob "Louie" (Lucille) Gavers, Jim "Red" (Margaret) Gavers, Jeff | 5 | | (Judy) Gavers, Eugene Gavers, David Gavers, Genevieve (Joe) | 6 | | O'Herron, and Terry (Ellen) Gavers; and many nieces and | 7 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Donald R. "Don" Gavers, and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
