| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Howard "Bud" Scott of Fox Lake, who | 4 | | passed away on January 14, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was a trustee and former president of the Lake | 6 | | Villa Fire Protection District Board and helped preside over | 7 | | the construction and 2008 opening of its new substation in | 8 | | Lindenhurst; "Bud" was also a former Lake County Board member | 9 | | and a former member and chairman of the Fox Waterway Agency | 10 | | Board; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, He was a not only a student but also a teacher, | 12 | | principal, and assistant superintendent at Grant High School in | 13 | | Fox Lake; his career at Grant High School spanned 22 years and | 14 | | touched thousands of students, faculty, and parents; he was | 15 | | more than just the Dean of Students, he was a friend whom | 16 | | people respected and relied on for guidance; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, He served as a Lake Villa Republican precinct | 18 | | committeeman since the 1960s; he served on the Lake County | 19 | | Board, he was a two-term director of the Fox Lake Chamber of | 20 | | Commerce, he was a Lake Villa Township trustee, and he was a | 21 | | member of the Lake County Planning Commission; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, He was a Marine Corps veteran; he was extremely | 2 | | proud to have served and continued to support the military | 3 | | through his work at the American Legion Post 703; he once | 4 | | served as a Fox Lake police officer and Lake County Sheriff's | 5 | | Office deputy; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Howard E. | 7 | | Scott Sr.; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Howard "Bud" Scott is survived by his wife of 52 | 9 | | years, Roberta Lou Scott; his children, Tom Scott, Kathy Scott, | 10 | | and Kristina (Michael) Kazlausky; his grandchildren, Sammy and | 11 | | Mick Kazlausky and Garrett Woolford; his mother, Cornelia | 12 | | Scott; his brother, Dr. Anthony (Judi) Scott; his sister, | 13 | | Meredith (John) Martin; his sisters-in-law, Sue (Roger) | 14 | | Tapleshay and Barb (Gary) Humphries; and his many nieces and | 15 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 18 | | his family and friends, the passing of Howard "Bud" Scott; and | 19 | | be it further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Howard "Bud" Scott as a symbol of | 22 | | our sincere sympathy.
