| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael Jordan on | 4 |
| the occasion of his retirement after 30 years of dedicated | 5 |
| service with the Bloomington Police Department; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Jordan earned his bachelor's degree in | 7 |
| criminal justice from Illinois State University in 1979; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Jordan has had a long and distinguished | 9 |
| career in law enforcement; he began his career as a McLean | 10 |
| County Jail Correctional Officer from 1979 to 1980; on April | 11 |
| 21, 1980, he was hired to serve on the Bloomington Police | 12 |
| Department, where he serve faithfully until his retirement on | 13 |
| June 4, 2010; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Bloomington Police | 15 |
| Department, Mike Jordan worked as a patrol officer, a youth | 16 |
| officer, a community policing officer, a member of the Crisis | 17 |
| Negotiation Unit, and a Crime Stopper Liaison; he also worked | 18 |
| in the Detective Division from 1988 to 1998; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Jordan proudly wore Bloomington Police | 20 |
| Department ribbons for Life Saving, Distinguished Achievement, | 21 |
| Individual Unit Citations, and Education; and

| WHEREAS, Mike Jordan was very active with the Bloomington | 2 |
| Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit 21 and served | 3 |
| on or coordinated many of the association's committees; he was | 4 |
| involved with the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis, the Red Cross | 5 |
| Blood Drive, the St. Jude's Christmas Card Recycle Program, | 6 |
| Shop with a Cop, Copy Your Kids, Christmas Parades, Race for | 7 |
| Victim's Rights, National Night Out, the McLean County Fair, | 8 |
| the Labor Day Parade, and the Special Olympics Torch Run as a | 9 |
| State Committee Member from 1981 to 2000; he also served as an | 10 |
| American Legion baseball coach and was a participant in the | 11 |
| Volunteer Police Officer Reading Program; and | 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Jordan was the recipient of numerous awards | 13 |
| for his service in the community, including the Chief's Award | 14 |
| of Merit in 1995, the PB & PA Unit #21 Officer of the Year Award | 15 |
| in 1998, the Bloomington Rotary Club Officer of the Year Award | 16 |
| in 1999, the BPD Meritorious Award in 1999, the MADD Heroes of | 17 |
| the Highway Award in 2000, the ISU, Department of Criminal | 18 |
| Justice, Alumni Achievement Award in 2000, the Illinois Crime | 19 |
| Stopper of the Year in 2003, and the Illinois State Crime | 20 |
| Stopper Coordinator of the Year Award in 2005; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Jordan serves as a model of hard work, | 22 |
| integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | 23 |
| Illinois; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 2 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 3 |
| congratulate Michael Jordan on the occasion of his retirement | 4 |
| and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | 5 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 |
| presented to Mike Jordan as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
