| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor Wing-Kun Tam of the Hong | 4 |
| Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), China for his many | 5 |
| years of dedicated service in his community and beyond; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Wing-Kun Tam has been a member of the Mt. Cameron | 7 |
| Lions Club since 1981; he has held many offices within the | 8 |
| association, including club president, zone chair, region | 9 |
| chair, district governor, 1992 International Convention | 10 |
| Bidding and Host chair, Campaign SightFirst multinational | 11 |
| coordinator and OSEAL recording secretary, District | 12 |
| Governor-elect Seminar group leader, SightFirst China Action | 13 |
| executive chair, 2005 International Convention Bidding | 14 |
| Committee executive chair, and honorary Host Committee chair; | 15 |
| he served in the organization's international board for 9 | 16 |
| years, including 2 years as international director and one year | 17 |
| on the executive board committee; he was elected to serve as | 18 |
| second vice president of The International Association of Lions | 19 |
| Clubs at the association's 92nd International Convention in | 20 |
| Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 6-10, 2009; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Wing-Kun Tam is currently employed as the | 22 |
| chairperson of a group of air transportation companies; and
|

| WHEREAS, Wing-Kun Tam has been the recipient of numerous | 2 |
| awards, including the 100% District Governor Award, 20 | 3 |
| International President's Awards, the Campaign SightFirst | 4 |
| National/Multi-National Coordinator Award, the International | 5 |
| Lion of the Year Award in 2003, the Ambassador of Good Will | 6 |
| Award, the First Annual Model of Overseas Young Entrepreneur | 7 |
| Award, and the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award; he is the | 8 |
| recipient of Her Majesty The Queen's Badge of Honor, the Most | 9 |
| Excellent Order of the British Empire, and the Bronze Bauhinia | 10 |
| Star by the HKSAR government; he was made an Honorary Citizen | 11 |
| of the City of New Britain, Connecticut in 1993 and an Honorary | 12 |
| Citizen of the State of Georgia in 1999; he was awarded the | 13 |
| Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award by the | 14 |
| Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2008; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Wing-Kun Tam is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow | 16 |
| and a Campaign SightFirst Lead Gift Donor; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Wing-Kun Tam is active in numerous professional | 18 |
| and community organizations and is a member and chairperson of | 19 |
| numerous boards and committees of the HKSAR government; he has | 20 |
| served as the Hong Kong Convention Ambassador since 1995; prior | 21 |
| to the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR, he served as a Hong | 22 |
| Kong District Affairs Advisor; he serves as a non-official | 23 |
| Justice of the Peace in the Hong Kong SAR; he was also | 24 |
| appointed to serve as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kenya |

| in the Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR of the People's Republic of | 2 |
| China cum Commissioner for the Kenya Tourist Board Far East; | 3 |
| and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Wing-Kun Tam is the beloved husband of Irene and | 5 |
| the loving father of Alvin, Tiffany, and Andrew; and | 6 |
| WHEREAS, serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and | 7 |
| dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, | 8 |
| be it
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 11 |
| honor Wing-Kun Tam for his many years of dedicated service and | 12 |
| wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be | 13 |
| it further
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 |
| presented to Wing-Kun Tam as a symbol of our esteem and | 16 |
| respect.
