| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the | 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Gloria | 4 |
| Faye Williams Jennings on Saturday, July 10, 2004; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Gloria Faye Williams was born on February 27, | 6 |
| 1954, to Issac and Esalena Williams in Drew, Mississippi; she | 7 |
| was preceded in death by two brothers, L.C. Williams and Kirk | 8 |
| Williams, and her parents; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Faye became a faithful member of Jerusalem | 10 |
| Missionary Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, Mississippi at an | 11 |
| early age and began serving as the Sunday School Pianist; she | 12 |
| later taught the Ladies Sunday School Class, served as church | 13 |
| reporter, and became a devoted member of the mission society; | 14 |
| and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, She graduated in 1972 from John F. Kennedy | 16 |
| Memorial High School in Mound Bayou, Mississippi; she received | 17 |
| her Bachelor of Science in biology in 1975 from Lane College in | 18 |
| Jackson, Tennessee, where she was a member of the marching band | 19 |
| and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, On March 20, 1976, Faye married Joe Jennings; they | 21 |
| were blessed with three children; she believed in family and | 22 |
| was deeply devoted to hers; and
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, While working as a school teacher and a certified | 24 |
| nursing assistant, Mrs. Jennings touched the lives and hearts | 25 |
| of many people; after 28 years of doing what she loved the | 26 |
| most, Mrs. Jennings retired from teaching at North Bolivar | 27 |
| County School District in January of 2004; because of her | 28 |
| dedication to education, a memorial scholarship fund will be | 29 |
| established in her name to help students in need achieve; and

| WHEREAS, The passing of Gloria Faye Williams Jennings has | 2 |
| been deeply felt by many, especially her husband, Joe Jennings; | 3 |
| her son, Trevor Vernon Jennings; her daughters, Twanda Vershun | 4 |
| (Jamaal) Longino and Tia Valencia Jennings; her brother, | 5 |
| Thurmond (Margaret) Williams; her sisters, Ethel Banks, | 6 |
| Catherine Turner, Sadie Bell, and Vera Phipps; her special | 7 |
| nephew who she often thought of as a brother, Willie Williams; | 8 |
| her uncle, Robert Williams; her aunts, Sadie Bolden and Lucille | 9 |
| Thomas; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; | 10 |
| therefore, be it
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 12 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 13 |
| mourn the passing of Gloria Faye Williams Jennings, and we | 14 |
| extend our sincerest condolences to her family, friends, and | 15 |
| all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 |
| presented to the family of Gloria Faye Williams Jennings as an | 18 |
| expression of our deepest sympathy for their loss.
