| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Marilyn A. McGuire, who passed away on | 4 | | July 4, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was born in Joliet on September | 6 | | 17, 1928; she was raised in Lockport and Joliet; she graduated | 7 | | from Sacred Heart School and St. Francis Academy, and she | 8 | | attended the College of St. Francis; she married Paul E. | 9 | | McGuire on November 24, 1951, and they raised six children; | 10 | | and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire worked in the law office of | 12 | | Joseph Kirincich for 14 years before becoming associate | 13 | | director of development at Joliet Catholic High School; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was an active member of the | 15 | | Joliet Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, the St. Paul the | 16 | | Apostle School Board, the St. Francis Academy and Joliet | 17 | | Catholic High School parent organizations, and the Notre Dame | 18 | | Club of Joliet; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire enjoyed cheering on the Joliet | 20 | | Catholic Academy and the University of Notre Dame, cooking and | 21 | | baking for her family, voting, and playing Scrabble; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire will be remembered as a smart and | 2 | | determined woman who held a lifelong commitment to helping | 3 | | others; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was preceded in death by her | 5 | | parents, Dorothy and Harold Mannell; her husband of 29 years, | 6 | | Paul; and her brother, Jim Mannell; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire is survived by her children, Pat | 8 | | (Lora), Peggy, Terry, Muffy, Eileen (Thom), and Marty (Deza); | 9 | | 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Jack | 10 | | Mannell and Kay Corrigan; her sister-in-law, Judy McGuire; and | 11 | | numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it | 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Marilyn A. McGuire and extend our sincere condolences to her | 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 16 | | further | 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Marilyn McGuire as an expression of | 19 | | our deepest sympathy. |
