| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Howard William Myers of Lakewood, who | 4 | | passed away on November 23, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Howard Myers was born in Brooklyn, New York on | 6 | | September 21, 1943; he attended the Brooklyn Polytechnic | 7 | | Institute and graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla | 8 | | with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics; he earned | 9 | | his Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Northeastern | 10 | | University in Boston; he married Sharon Ruth Stene in Elgin on | 11 | | June 4, 1966; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Howard Myers was a systems software engineer for | 13 | | many companies including Boeing, Motorola, Berkline, and the | 14 | | Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; he loved to teach and was a | 15 | | professor of computer science at Judson College for nearly a | 16 | | decade and chairman of the computer science department; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Howard Myers enjoyed working with | 18 | | his son, Andy, at Acorn Landscape and visiting his son, Arvy, | 19 | | in Washington, D.C.; he was an avid photographer, bird watcher, | 20 | | and Chicago Cubs fan; he loved attending his granddaughter | 21 | | Lily's hockey games and building birdhouses with his grandson, | 22 | | Oakly; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Howard Myers is survived by his wife of over 51 | 2 | | years, Sharon; his sons, Howard Arvin "Arvy" (Kimberley) Myers | 3 | | and Andrew Carter (Jenny) Myers; his grandchildren, Lillian | 4 | | Helen and Oakly Carter Myers; and his brother-in-law, Dennis | 5 | | Carter (Carol) Stene; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Howard William Myers, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
