| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Rose Marie "Rosie" Hammitt of | 4 | | Salisbury, who passed away on July 19, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was born to James and Doris | 6 | | Livingston in Springfield on December 16, 1949; she graduated | 7 | | from Springfield High School in 1967; she married Mike Hammitt | 8 | | on December 30, 1972; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was employed with the State of | 10 | | Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety, where she served as | 11 | | manager of the GIS computer section until her retirement; | 12 | | prior to that, she worked at the Illinois Department of | 13 | | Transportation for a combined total of over 30 years; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was an active member of the Church | 15 | | of the Little Flower and the Jacksonville Antique Car Club; | 16 | | she also served on the Curran Gardner Water Board and was | 17 | | instrumental in getting water to the Salisbury community; | 18 | | throughout her life, she was committed to helping others, with | 19 | | no task too small or too great; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt liked stained glass, horses, and two | 21 | | donkeys named Daisy and Doodle; she enjoyed crafting, jewelry |

| 1 | | making, acquiring antique cars, riding motorcycles, going to | 2 | | garage sales with friends, hosting family and friends, and | 3 | | being on the farm; most of all, she loved spending time with | 4 | | her family; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was preceded in death by her husband | 6 | | and her parents; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt is survived by her daughter, Anna | 8 | | (Timothy) Varvel; her grandchildren, Brycen and Delaney | 9 | | Varvel; her siblings, James (Kathy) Livingston and Mary (Bill) | 10 | | Hayen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it | 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Rose Marie "Rosie" Hammitt and extend our sincere condolences | 14 | | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | 15 | | it further | 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Rose Hammitt as an expression of our | 18 | | deepest sympathy. |
