| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Thomas L. "Gus" Gainey of Orion, who | 4 | | passed away on August 22, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey was born to Guy and Martha Miller | 6 | | Gainey in the Colona Township on November 3, 1929; he served in | 7 | | the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954; he married Nancy K. | 8 | | Westerlund in Orion on October 24, 1952; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey was a longtime farmer in the Orion | 10 | | area; he was also employed with Clark Feed & Supply in Orion, | 11 | | NBC in Cambridge, and AGH of Orion, where he was a part owner; | 12 | | and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey was an active member of the Orion | 14 | | United Methodist Church, the Orion American Legion Post #255, | 15 | | the Orion Masonic Sherman Lodge, and the Orion Order of the | 16 | | Eastern Star; he was also a member of a 50-year card club group | 17 | | of friends; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey enjoyed bowling and playing baseball | 19 | | in his younger years; he was also a diehard St. Louis Cardinals | 20 | | fan; he was an excellent woodworker and an Honor Flight | 21 | | attendee, an experience that made him very proud; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey was preceded in death by his parents; | 2 | | his brothers, Mervin and Darrel "Diz" Gainey; and his sister, | 3 | | Loretta Hallquist; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey is survived by his wife, Nancy; his | 5 | | sons, Ty (Pam) Gainey, Grant (Rhonda) Gainey, Neil (Rena) | 6 | | Gainey, and Kurt (Mary) Gainey; his 10 granddaughters; his 17 | 7 | | great-grandchildren; his sister, Evelyn Nichols; and his | 8 | | brother, Gene (Jeanne) Gainey; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Thomas L. "Gus" Gainey and extend our sincere condolences to | 12 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
