| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Frances N. "Fran" Macris of Joliet, who | 4 | | passed away on November 16, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Frances Macris was born to Nicholas and Catherine | 6 | | (Kapellas) Cookas on July 26, 1920; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Frances Macris was a social and active woman who | 8 | | was deeply involved in her community; she served as the | 9 | | president for both the Women's Club of Joliet and the Pershing | 10 | | School PTA; she was a coordinator of volunteers for the | 11 | | American Red Cross and a member of the Silver Cross Hospital | 12 | | Advisory Board, volunteering many hours at the Encore Shop and | 13 | | as a member of the Hospitality Club; she was a devoted lifelong | 14 | | member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, serving on the | 15 | | Parish Council, the church choir, and with the Daughters of | 16 | | Penelope; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Frances Macris was married to a naval officer and | 18 | | also had two sons and a grandson who were officers; she | 19 | | actively supported her men in uniform and their professional | 20 | | careers; she selflessly devoted her life to her family and many | 21 | | friends; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Frances Macris was preceded in death by her loving | 2 | | and devoted husband of 46 years, Constantine A. Macris; her | 3 | | parents; and her siblings, Irene (William) Booras, George | 4 | | Cookas, Mitchell (Betty) Cookas, and Alexander Cookas; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Frances Macris is survived by her sons, Dean | 6 | | (Margaret) Macris and Nicholas (Kathy) Macris; her | 7 | | grandchildren, Sophia Macris, Constantine (Deanna) Macris, | 8 | | Harrison Macris, and Maria Frances Macris; her | 9 | | great-grandchildren, Annika Macris and Lucia Macris; her | 10 | | sister-in-law, Mary Lou Cookas; her goddaughter, Michele | 11 | | Polvere; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, | 12 | | be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Frances N. "Fran" Macris, and extend our sincere condolences to | 16 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 17 | | further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Frances Macris as an expression of | 20 | | our deepest sympathy.
