| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the members of the | 3 | | Illinois House of Representatives remember the many sacrifices | 4 | | and contributions to the cause of freedom made by the | 5 | | outstanding men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces; | 6 | | and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Private First Class Donnie Joe Clough of | 8 | | Hindsboro was born to Joseph and Pearl Tate Clough in Tuscola | 9 | | on July 27, 1949; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, PFC Clough volunteered to serve in the U.S. | 11 | | Marine Corps in July of 1968; he was sent overseas on January | 12 | | 27, 1969, serving as a rifleman in the 1st Marine Division, 2nd | 13 | | Battalion, 5th Marine, F Company; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, PFC Clough was killed while on duty in the Quang | 15 | | Nam Providence in Vietnam on September 9, 1969; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, PFC Clough was awarded the Purple Heart, the | 17 | | Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal with one | 18 | | Service Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense | 19 | | Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, PFC Clough was |

| 1 | | survived by his parents; his brothers, Clyde Russel, Doyle | 2 | | Wayne, Alvin Layel, and Bruce Dean; and his sisters, Virginia | 3 | | Taylor, Carol Layton, Debra Louise, Linda Sue, and Pamela Kay; | 4 | | and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, PFC Clough's name has been immortalized on Panel | 6 | | WI8, Line 61 of the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington, D.C.; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 9 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 10 | | we recognize the ultimate sacrifice Private First Class Donnie | 11 | | Joe Clough made for this county and honor his memory; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of PFC Clough as a symbol of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy, respect, and esteem.
